About Fried Onions

FRIED ONION
Fried onion is a processed food product made from fresh onions (Allium cepa) that are peeled, sliced, and deep-fried in edible oil until they achieve a characteristic golden-brown color and crispy texture. It is widely used as a flavoring and garnish in various culinary applications.

Processing Method:

  1. Sorting & Grading: Selection of mature, sound onions free from defects.
  2. Peeling & Washing: Removal of outer skin and cleaning.
  3. Slicing: Uniform slicing into rings or strips (25 mm thickness).
  4. Frying:
    • Deep frying in oil at 160180C
    • Continued until moisture is reduced and onions turn golden brown
  5. De-oiling:
    • Removal of excess oil using centrifuge or draining system
  6. Cooling:
    • Rapid cooling to preserve crispness
  7. Packaging:
    • Packed in moisture-proof and oxygen-resistant packaging (often nitrogen flushed).
